Community Acupuncture Treatments: $15.00 to $35.00 (Does not include 1st visit $10 paperwork fee) Community acupuncture treatments are performed in a low-lit and relaxing community room in recliners. Your initial intake lasts from ten to fifteen minutes, followed by acupuncture, using points mostly located on the arms, legs and head. Each session's resting time varies, based on your preference, but is usually between 25 and 45 minutes. The community room is a place to come to receive acupuncture treatments and do what it takes to help you reclaim your health. Whether it takes closing your eyes and dozing off, listening to music (bring your IPOD or MP3 if you want to hear your own!) or even meditating, you are free to regain or maintain your wellness in your own unique way. Acupuncture for People with Cancer ICA and the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes team up to support people with a cancer diagnosis, at any stage of illness and recovery. Acupuncture is helpful for treating many symptoms associated with cancer and side-effects of cancer treatments. Commonly treated conditions include pain, muscle tension, fatigue depression, anxiety, stress, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, hot flashes, and insomnia. Sadie Hays, L.Ac., is trained by Memorial Sloan-Kettering Integrative Medical Cancer Center to provide acupuncture for cancer patients. ICA at the CRC is a great example of community acupuncture working in the community - receive acupuncture in a warm and supportive environment, and benefit from the other terrific programs that the CRC has to offer. ICA's "Quit Smoking Clinic": $15.00 to $30.00 per week. ICA offers a helping hand to all those struggling with the very hard task of quitting smoking. Acupuncture can be very effective in curbing the cravings for nicotine. As with any treatments, consistency and frequency are crucial in the early stages of quitting. "Quit Smoking Clinic" treatments will consist of auricular (ear) acupuncture only and last 30 - 45 minutes. The sliding scale $15.00 - $30.00 per week fee will enable you to come as often as you like during our regular business hours. When you make an appointment let us know that you would like to take part in our "Quit Smoking Clinic". Thanks and Best of Luck! Ithaca Veterans Acupuncture Clinic (IVAC): no charge IVAC is accessible to all US Veterans and their family members. The treatments are performed in the community room and consist of the NADA 5 Needle Protocol (auricular or ear) acupuncture. The NADA treatments can last a half hour to forty-five minutes. For more information about why we use the NADA protocol, or to locate other Veteran's Acupuncture clinics, see Acupuncturists Without Borders Military Stress Recovery Project. Ithaca Community Acupuncture would like to thank Abigail Thomas-Costello LMT, L.Ac of Trumansburg Oriental Medicine for starting IVAC in Ithaca.
